EMHB 491 – Christian seek not yet repose
Memory Verse: Ephesians 5:11 “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.”
The word “instruction” meaning “understanding and comprehension and discipline” is associated with father, while the word “teaching”, which is a translation of the Hebrew work law, is associated with mother. That teaching is almost unknown today. Parents should take note that the future of Nigeria will not be determined by politicians. Rather, it will be determined by parents who must instruct and also teach their family members. A return to family values is imperative; else, Nigeria will implode, i.e. collapse within. The thoughts and aims of criminals are the same from generation to generation (verse 10-16).
The way of escape is not to give in. Agreeing to do evil is sin! Eve consented before she plucked the fruit (Gen. 3:6). David consented before he committed his act of sin (2 Sam. 11:2-4). Joseph resisted and was saved (Gen. 39:8, 9). Job was sorely tried, “yet through all these, job did not sin (Job 1:22; 2:10)”. Daniel refused to defile himself with the portion of the King’s meat in Babylon and came out better. Shedrack, Meshack and Abednego stood their grounds against King Nebuchadnezzar and they were thereafter promoted.
Is it safe to trust in our good resolutions or principles? Don’t walk with the wicked. Don’t even discuss things with them. No one becomes extravagantly sinful all at once. Bad company corrupt good morals.
