As early as 6am on April 28 2017, individuals with various talents from the Lagos region stormed Ultima Studios in Lekki to showcase their innate gifts before the scouts. The contestants hoped for a chance to be selected into the regional competition and become winner of GCGT season 7 during the finals holding in June. Long queues at the entrance was proof that young Lagosians were ready to impress, as everyone remained eager to display the great talent living inside of them.
The incredible level of talent displayed by the contestants showed resounding dedication, passion and true commitment, as the regional GCGT scouts were held spell bound. To advance into the regional finals, all three-talent scouts per audition room had give to give a ‘yes vote’ to the auditioning contestant. Only exceptional contestants found agreement in unison from the talent scouts.
Acro-dancers; Kehinde Olawonuola & Rachael Whyte, Violinist; Balogun Emmanuel, Drummer Boy; Oribi Ibiski as well as Pianist, Munachi Mso were among numerous talents who impressed the scouts and got the nods to proceed in the next round of the Lagos regional competition.
Vocal expert, Ben Ogbeiwi also known as Uncle Ben while commenting about the Lagos auditions said:
“I’m impressed by the amount of contestants who have come from far and wide to audition in Lagos. Anyone who knows me already has an idea that I look out for the best talents. I don’t condone mediocrity especially where talents are concerned. The best have been selected and I wish all contestants good luck as they progress in the main competition”.
