GETTING TO THE FATHER (1)

I Corinthians 14:2 NKJV

“For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.”

First of all, it is expedient to note that there are different means of getting through to our Father God as believers – worship, prayers, studying the Word and generally fellowship with the brethren. God is not far-fetched, of course, and He is not ignorant of all of the things you need or ask – we have to speak the Father into doing those things He has shown and promised in His Word. Truth is, nothing will happen if you do not speak things into existence in your life. Your situation will be left unchanged and you’ll be wondering if God exists or is far-fetched or doesn’t love you. So, until you have asked of the Father, according to His Word, you will most certainly not get your answers.

One of the ways we’ll be considering now is prayer and how it should actually be approached. You see, prayer is a very pivotal role in a Christian’s walk of faith. It is one of the means with which we get through to the Father. It has been proven to be a two-way communication thing, where we speak and the Lord speaks back to us expressly, directly, from his Word, or through people. Anyhow He chooses to, no defining God’s ways. Before speaking on how to get through to the Father with prayers effectively, I should debunk some of your misconceptions about prayer. You know, growing up  until now, we sing “prayer is the key, prayer is the master key”. That’s a painful misconception. Prayer is one of the keys or ways to the Father, just as have already been mentioned. Try prayer without faith or prayer without works and consider the miserable combination (James 2:18).

Prayer is not just mumbling words, as we do, or just pray some emotionally driven prayers, you pray from the Word of God when you pray. It’s why you hear some ridiculous prayer points and you are just left wondering. It’s simple – God esteems his word more than even his name. No iota of God’s word will go unfulfilled. (Psalm 138:2, Isaiah 55:11). So, why pray from your feelings or your flesh rather than from the Word of God? You can always hold on to God and remind him of his Word whenever things aren’t as they should. “Dear Lord, you already said in your word about my health that I am healed by your stripes. So this sickness cannot stay!” You dare God with his word! Not your empty and selfish feelings.

Most importantly too, prayer is relationship. When we pray, we relate with our Father through the Spirit He’s given us and by praying in Jesus’ name. Scriptures say that God is seeking for those that will worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). He’s yearning for a relationship with all men and one of the ways we can achieve this is by prayer. Wherever you are, whatever you do, take a time out and commune with the Father. He actually yearns for you.

Now, this part is pretty important. You see, the best way to get to the Father is not by praying in your understanding, but by praying in the Holy Ghost. “How’s that”, you’re probably wondering? There are a couple of things you should know today, or whenever you read this article. God is a spirit and to get through to him, you have to do it the spiritual way. It is extremely impossible to get through to the Father by our flesh. That is exactly why he gave us His Spirit, to help us bring our petitions to Him (Romans 8:26). Our flesh is weak and cannot communicate the mind of God. Only the Spirit can and does that. You get directly to the Father (straight up!) when you pray or worship in tongues (1Corinthians 14:2) besides; we want the will of God, don’t we? We get to pray the exact will and mind of God when we pray in unknown tongues (Romans 8:27). There is peace when you know that the one who searches the mind of God prays what He has seen concerning your life in God’s mind. I really hope you get me.

So, if you are a believer and do not pray in unknown tongues, I’m afraid.

Mark 16:17 NKJV
“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;”

Jesus Christ said this at His ascension. It’s one of the signs that show you believe in Christ. Just open your mouth and pray, in an unknown language. You have it in you! It’s right in you! Let it out and get the will of God done for your life.

Finally, so when you want to pray about a particular thing, make sure to get God’s Word for it and then let it all out in your understanding first and then in the Holy Ghost (tongues). Again, you do not have to wait to be in “avatar mode” to communicate with your Father. When in school, at work, on the go… wherever, make sure to take some time out to commune with God. Do not forget; prayer is more of a way of building our relationship with God than just making requests all the time.

Keep winning!
