WEDNESDAY 1ST FEBRUARY, 2017
THEME: YOU ARE JUSTIFIED
TEXT: ROMANS 8: 30 – 32
HYMN: EMHB 368 – Arise my soul, arise, shake off thy guilty fears
The Bible Passage today presents to us all the processes of election/adoption. God offers us this great privilege not because of anything we have done but because of His love for us. The topic suggests that we are offered justification through Jesus who was not spared by God but freely given to us. The process of justification is the one through which a guilty person is absolved and declared no longer guilty.
We should recall that the Bible affirms that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Despite that, God sent His Son to take away sin and bring us to Him and the glory that we lost hitherto as a result of sin. We should remember that God has provided everything for our justification if only we will respond to His accomplished work on our behalf.
To appropriate this gift of justification, we need to ensure the following:
(i). Respond to God in appreciation for all He has done on our behalf for our own good;
(ii). Respond to God in faith by believing in the worth of the work already finished on the Cross for us all, (Romans 5: 1 – 2);
(iii). Repent of sins we have committed and henceforth shun every sinful act, and
(iv). Live lives of dependency on God.
MEMORY VERSE: Rom. 8: 31 “What then shall we say about these things? God is for us, who can be against us?
PRAYER: Lord God, grant us the grace that will enlighten our minds to work and walk correspondingly with Thee, and to respond to Your offer of justification. Amen.
WELCOME TO FEBRUARY 2O17! DEPEND ON GOD!
