THEME: THE SPIRITUAL EYE
TEXT: EPHESIANS 1:17-23
HYMN: EMHB 427 Through all the changing scenes of life
Imagine someone who should be stupendously wealthy living as a pauper simply because his spiritual eyes are not opened to such hidden wealth! Many Christians are like the Ephesians; they are rich in Christ but live a beggarly life! Apostle Paul, therefore, gives some spiritual blessings that needed to be tapped to increase their heavenly wealth in Christ. Such blessings include wisdom, love, grace, redemption, adoption, forgiveness, etc. As believers, we need to ask God to open our spiritual eyes to behold the mass of blessings hidden around us. After all, when darkness covered the face of the earth in Genesis 1:3, God said, “Let there be light and there was light” and darkness disappeared. We, therefore, need to see and behave as the Lord sees and behaves to see the wondrous blessings which, by our redemption and adoption as God’s children, are made manifest to all children of light – believers – all over the world.
Everyone in Christ is a new creature and all the old things pass away into oblivion and there is newness of life! We now have the opportunity of enjoying the blessings God has given unto Christ, His Son, as co-heirs of the Kingdom. Beloved, are you living like a beggar when you should live like a prince or a King? I have never seen a prince beg for bread. Why should you?
God wants you to see yourself the way He sees you – “Like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in due season; whose leaves also shall not wither and whatever he does shall prosper” So, see yourself like that tree bringing forth fruit in season, see yourself as a child of God who is unknown to destroyers, whose health will not fail, and whatever he does shall prosper.
MEMORY VERSE: Ephesians 1:18 “I pray that the eyes of your understanding may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope in His calling and the riches of the glory of His inheritance in His saints.”
PRAYER: Guide me, Lord, through the mysteries of life and open my spiritual eyes of wisdom and understanding that I may behold Your wondrous blessings of life.
