THEME: STAY OPEN TO GOD
TEXT: ROMANS 8:9-13
HYMN: EMHB 680 Glad was my heart to hear
The heart is the engine room of life. When it is not polluted, the body cannot be polluted. A sound mind produces a sound body. Our heart is the strength of our life. When it stops beating, life comes to an abrupt end, too.
This passage reflects on the heart as the fertile ground that produces sound faith. Our heart is a total reflection of our life. Proverbs 4:20 says: “Keep thy heart with all diligence: for out of it are issues of life.” We must guide our hearts with absolute diligence; our heart must be discretely kept and preserved. This will be possible by the Spirit of God who dwells in and guides the heart of a believer.
When Christ dwells in and controls our heart the following benefits begin to manifest:
” We will enjoy peace of mind;
” Unhindered grace that will result in a blissful life;
” You begin to walk in divine favour;
” The fullness of your innate potential will come alive.
Beloved, as we go out this morning let us commit our minds totally to God. Let us be unconditionally dedicated to God and open our hearts to the Holy Spirit’s control. Let Christ dwell richly in your heart and the peace of Christ will abide with you.
MEMORY VERSE: Ephesians 3:17 “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong” (NLT).
PRAYER: Lord, plant a new heart in me, a heart of praise, a heart free from sin and a heart of service in Thy vineyard.
