Devotional: By the Spirit of God

HYMN: EMHB 390 – Give me the faith which can remove and sink the mountain to a plain
In the text, Zechariah the prophet had a vision from God. The sole aim of the vision was to encourage Joshua the High Priest, and Zerubbabel, the Governor, about the rebuilding of the temple after the 70-year Babylonian captivity of Judah. I pray that every mountain before us shall be pulled down. Whatever wants to block our road to progress shall be leveled in Jesus’ Name.
The Holy Spirit has the ability to accomplish all things.  He is the gift of God to the Saints.  Here we see the Holy Spirit at work and what the Holy Spirit will do.  Verse 2 of Isaiah 11, says the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him Jesus.
• The spirit of wisdom and understanding.

• The spirit of counseling and might.

• The spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
This passage is a reflection of the workings of the Holy Spirit.  It talks about how the power of the Holy Spirit will descend on Jesus Christ and what the Holy Spirit will do through Him. The greatest gift that was passed on to the church is the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:8)
The Holy Spirit is a Teacher, a Counselor, a Comforter, a Healer as well as the Giver of wisdom, Knowledge and understanding.
Beloved in Christ, when we keep our heart pure and clean, the Holy Spirit will come and dwell within us and abide with us.  What makes us whole is the power of the Holy Spirit.  When we seek God diligently, the natural power of the Holy Spirit will fall upon us and through this we will be able to accomplish God’s purpose. May His Spirit guide us in all our decisions and may we find favour in His presence. When God is with us through the Holy Spirit, we have power over every satanic force. In the passage, the angel is telling Zechariah and all of us that no decree, no law against our progress can ever stand.
MEMORY VERSE: Isaiah 11:12 “He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; He will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth.”
PRAYER: Spirit divine, fill us with the Spirit of Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding and set us free from every act of ignorance in Jesus’ name.
