THEME: WHERE DO YOU BELONG?
TEXT: JOHN 18:25-40
MEMORY VERSE: JOHN 18:36 “Jesus answered, My Kingdom is not of this world. If My Kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My Kingdom is not from here.”
Jesus left all His glory in heaven and came down to this earth to offer Himself as a sacrifice for the salvation of mankind. It was also God’s plan to use Him to prove to man that we can overcome the devil and sin even in the human flesh. The divine plan of God to bring heaven down in human form became a difficult thing for many to believe. That was the reason why the Pharisees, Scribes, kings and rulers queried His Divinity, Kingship, Son-ship and Messiah-ship. The secret of Divinity was revealed to His Disciples on many occasions and yet became something they still could not grasp until after His resurrection. They asked Him “…Lord, show us the Father” (John. 14:8-9), “We do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?” (John. 14:5).
However, Jesus knew where He came from and where He was heading back to. He knew who He is and His mission on earth. When Pilate asked Him of His own side of the story concerning the accusations brought against Him, Jesus affirmed that He knew where He belonged – The Kingdom of Heaven!
Do you know where you belong? Are you of this world or of heaven? Those who are of this world mind worldly things but those who belong to heaven mind heavenly things. Those who belong to heaven will find a place of rest with God after the collapse of this evil world. It is better you define well where you belong or redefine it to make room for heaven.
HYMN: EMHB 526 – O JESUS, I HAVE PROMISED
PRAYER: Lord, because I do not belong to this world, do not allow the curses of this world to be on me nor on my house in Jesus’ name. Amen.
