TUESDAY 28TH NOVEMBER, 2017 READ – DAY: 2-3 John; Night: Ezk 21-22
THEME: WHEN HE COMES AGAIN
TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 4: 13- 18
HYMN: EMHB 831 – Give me the wings of faith to rise
Jesus emphatically said He would come again (John 14: 1 – 4). It is to His second coming that Apostle Paul draws our attention in today’s reading. It is obvious that not all believers will be alive to witness Jesus’ second coming. Some would have slept in the Lord. Paul here assures believers that those who will have slept in the Lord will first of all see the Lord because they will rise with Him, then the living would rapture to meet the Lord in the air. This is the place where the power of darkness operates (Eph 2: 2), where the evil spirit dwells. For Jesus to be in the air for the rapture of the saints it means total victory over Satan and his demons. His second coming will accomplish the hope we have in Him to reign with Him in His Kingdom. Much about the future still remains a mystery, but we can confidently look forward to being in the presence of Christ with all the saints who have gone ahead.
When He comes again, He is coming with power and glory that no person has ever seen. Jesus will appear in the sky. He is coming to judge the living and the dead (II Tim. 4: 1). He is coming to take the faithful, (those who endure the hardship of this time; those who did not compromise their faith; those who did not lose their first love for Him) to the mansions He has prepared. When He comes again He will replace sorrow with joy and dirge with praise. When He comes again all satanic powers and principalities will be put under His feet.
Continue to be faithful to Him so that you can partake either in the resurrection of the dead or the rapture of those alive to meet Him in the air.
MEMORY VERSE: 2 Pet. 3:9 “The Lord is not slow about His promise as some count slowness, but fore-bearing toward you not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
PRAYER: Merciful Father, keep me in You till the second coming of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
