DAILY REFLECTION: WHAT HINDERS YOUR PRAYER?/SATURDAY 30TH DECEMBER, 2017

SATURDAY 30TH DECEMBER, 2017                                        READ – DAY: Luke 23:26-56; Night: Neh 10-11

THEME: WHAT HINDERS YOUR PRAYER?

TEXT:     MARK 11: 24 – 26

HYMN: EMHB 285 – O Breath of God, breathe on us now

Many people ruin their health and lives by taking the poison of unforgiveness. Many prayers are hindered by unforgiveness (Mark 11:25-26). The Heavenly Father cannot forgive our sins if we do not forgive others. If our sins are not forgiven, we cannot make heaven. Therefore, if you cannot forgive, you cannot make heaven! We reap what we sow. Sow mercy, and you’ll reap mercy; sow judgment, and you’ll reap judgment. The act of forgiving is our seed of obedience to God’s Word. Once we have sown our seed, He is faithful to bring a harvest of blessing to us.

Serious diseases such as high blood pressure, insomnia, peptic ulcer etc. can develop as a result of unforgiveness. Moreover, your fellowship with God gets blocked by unforgiveness. Forgiveness keeps Satan from getting an advantage over us (2 Corinthians 2:10-11). Ephesians 4:26-27 tells us not to let the sun go down on our anger or give the devil any such foothold or opportunity. Remember that the devil must have a foothold before he can get a stronghold. Do not help Satan to torture you. Be quick to forgive. Unforgiveness is spiritual filthiness, so get washed in the water of God’s Word to forgive and stay clean.

Choose to obey God and steadfastly resist the devil in his attempts to poison you with bitter thoughts. Forgive and God will heal your wounded emotions (Matthew 6:12-14). You cannot forgive without the power of the Holy Spirit. If you are truly willing, God will enable you truly to forgive. Humble yourself and cry out to Him for help.

MEMORY VERSE: Mark 11:25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, give me a forgiving heart so that I can forgive sincerely, genuinely and honestly those that hurt me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
