SATURDAY 15TH JULY, 2017 READ – DAY: Matt 26:36-75; Night: Psalm 125-134
THEME: WALK IN THE SPIRIT
TEXT: GALATIANS 5:16-26
HYMN: EMHB 516 – When we walk with the Lord.
In today’s world, the avoidable dilemma encroaching on our avowed steadfast Christian practice is the inability of many Christians to walk in the Spirit. Regrettably, most Christians tend to exhibit their love for God through outlandish celebrations, banqueting and ostentatious feasting with no iota of serenity and spirituality. God is Spirit and they that worship Him MUST worship Him in Spirit and in truth (John 4:24).
We should be sensitive to the Holy Spirit in all our dealings and allow Him to direct our lives through the Word of God (Heb. 4:12). This will enable us not to satisfy the desires of the flesh enumerated in Gal. 5:19-21. Rather, we should daily manifest the fruit of the Spirit such as love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, etc.
When we “walk in the Spirit”, we will NOT “fulfil the lust of the flesh” (Gal. 5:16). Brothers and sisters in Christ, are you still carnal i:e satisfying the desires of the flesh? Allow God to direct your ways and you will know that the Lord is good.
MEMORY VERSE: Gal. 5:25 “If we live in the Spirit let us also walk in the Spirit.”
PRAYER: By the power of the Holy Ghost I bring under subjection every desire of the flesh in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
