SATURDAY 16TH DECEMBER, 2017 READ – DAY: Luke 12:1-34; Night: Ezr 1-2
THEME: THE WILL OF GOD
TEXT: MATTHEW 26:36-39
HYMN: EMHB 811 – Thy Kingdom come O Lord…
Have you ever been caught between the devil and the deep blue sea? I mean, have you ever been in a situation where the clouds of confusion and dereliction rest on your agitated mind? I believe you would have in one way or the other. With this in mind, you will be able to appreciate what came on Jesus Christ, when He prayed saying “O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me ……..” Matt. 26:39
At that time, in the life of Jesus, everything seemed to work against Him. Jesus Christ, having both human and divine nature, knew what lay ahead of Him in a couple of hours to come. He would be humiliated, abused and denied by those He came to save (Matt.1:21). He would have to carry the sins of all of humanity (both those that were dead, those that were alive and those yet to be born) in His body, and the eternal God He loved would abandon Him- though for a moment! (Psalm 22:1). But then, this was what He came to do. Praise God, Jesus Christ submitted Himself to the will of God and humanity is saved forever. As many as receive Him, the power of reconciliation is given to them to become the sons of God (cf. John 1:12). But then, this was what He came to do; what He was born for. Praise God.
Beloved, what is the will of God for your life? Without you knowing it, you will miss the road in many respects. The first dominant wisdom is for you to know and follow the One who knows the way and thus guide you in achieving the purpose of God in your life. It is in doing God’s will that you will have absolute peace in every aspect of your life, including marriage, business, relationship, ministry, etc. May we receive new grace to know and do the will of God in every area of our lives in Jesus’ name. Amen.
MEMORY VERSE: Prov. 19:21 “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless (it’s) the counsel of the Lord that shall stand.
PRAYER: Lord Eternal, Your will, not mine, shall prevail in my life. Amen.
