FRIDAY 3RD AUGUST, 2018
THEME: THE POWER OF GRACE
TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 12:1 – 10
MEMORY VERSE: 2 CORINTHIANS. 12: 9 “And He said unto me, ‘My grace is sufficient for thee:’ for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
But by the grace of God, I am what I am”, writes Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthian 15:10. It is important to note that grace does many things for us in our Christian life. As we study this text today, let us note that it is God’s grace that has kept us till now. There is also a measure of grace in our prayer life. This is because as we know how to pray, we cannot pray enough because of our fraility. Grace comes upon us through the power of the Holy Spirit. Some of us sleep in the place of prayer; some wander away in their hearts. But the grace of the Lord that has always been sufficient to carry us through.
Paul tells the Church at Corinth that even in times of weakness, through grace he receives power. In verse 9 he says that he would therefore gladly boast more in his weaknesses so that the power of Christ would rest upon him. This means that there is more power in God’s grace than we think of. We have more strength imparted into us when we operate under His grace. Every one of us should desire this grace from the Lord so that we may also overcome sin and Satan. Many times we think it is by our ability that we did not fall into temptation. We think we have the strength to overcome the subtle and deceptive antics of the devil, but it is God’s grace that works in us.
As we prepare to go out today, let us ask for more grace in our lives so that we can achieve more for the Lord. Remember Matt. 7:7 which says “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock, it shall be opened unto you.”
