THURSDAY 29TH JUNE, 2017 READ – DAY: Matt 12; Night: Psalm 77-78
THEME: THE POTTER’S VESSEL
TEXT: JEREMIAH 18:1-10
HYMN: EMHB 504 – Leave God to order all thy ways
It is the producer who always knows what is best to produce with the raw material at his disposal. And it is always in the best interest of the product to conform to whatever its maker reshapes it to be.
The passage under focus is about a message to the house of Israel through Prophet Jeremiah as he was made to visit a potter’s house where he discovered that the marred vessel in the potter’s hands was reshaped to another vessel of the potter’s choice.
We are like the vessel in the potter’s hand, a marred vessel in God’s hand and He reshapes us individually to His choice. Sin mars us as often as we indulge in telling lies, hypocrisy, theft, hatred, unforgiveness, anger, malice, greed, backbiting others, sexual immorality, compromise to do evil, pretence, etc.
God, in His infinite mercy, like the potter, never wanting us to be useless, decides to reshape us into what He deems best. Hence, we should always allow ourselves to be shaped into vessels as seems best to God, our Maker, for our good, relevance, productivity, success, and victory to fulfil the purpose of God in our lives every moment, situation and place, to His glory.
MEMORY VERSE: Jeremiah 18:4 “But the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make”. (NKJV)
PRAYER: Dear heavenly Father, remould and reshape me to whatsoever You want me to be because it is all for my good in Jesus’ name. Amen.
