MONDAY 4TH DECEMBER, 2017 READ – DAY: Luke 3; Night: Ezk 35-36
THEME: STAND OUT
TEXT: 2CORINTHIANS 6:14-18
HYMN: EMHB 468 – Nearer my God to Thee
In continuation of yesterday’s topic that no matter the level of your sin, once you as a living soul can cry to God with a repentant heart, He will forgive you. After forgiveness, it is important you move to the next level of the Christian ladder. That next level is the topic for discussion this morning. You must “stand out”.
What do we mean by standing out? It means you as a believer should see yourself as a different person in this corrupt world and never associate yourself with things of the world or do what the worldy or carnal people do. Standing out is well explained in the scripture for this morning that we should.
- Not be yoked together with unbelievers,
- We should dissociate ourselves from the fellowship of darkness,
- We should not have things in common with unbelievers,
- See yourself as the temple of God and not the shrine of Idol or devil.
A woman in the church came and was almost crying after a Bible study on the above topic, asking ‘How can I stand out? My working place is full of corruption. Can I alone stand out even when my boss is the principal actor in the act? If I stand out against him, I may be sacked.’
Children of God, a lot of us find ourselves in situations that are too challenging like this. We have to seek divine wisdom to overcome challenges as regards standing out both at home, in our place of work, school and anywhere we are. Remember we are children of light and not of darkness. Let your light shine amidst all brethren by standing out.
MEMORY VERSE: 2Cor. 6:14 “Do not be mismated with unbelievers. For what partnership have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?”
PRAYER: Holy Father, saturate me with Your anointing oil to stand out as Your son in all I do and the places I go in Jesus’ name.
