SATURDAY 18TH MARCH, 2017 READ-Day: 1 Cor. 15; Night: Num 4
THEME: THE STRONG TOWER
TEXT: PSALM 118:10-16
HYMN: EMHB 420 – O what shall I do my Saviour to praise.
The life of a man is full of troubles, problems, pains, afflictions which may be caused by his enemies or his sins. However, there are so many hopes for a righteous man to overcome all these odds and problems of life. Verse 14 says “The Lord is my strength, and song, and He has become my salvation”. When a man has taken the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord, and Saviour such a man is totally secure. Even when in problems of life, God will defend him and give him strength, grace, and power to overcome.
Many people are looking for the way out of their problems by consulting small gods through the herbalists, fake prophets, seers, diviners, stargazers, etc. Is the Name of the Lord your strong tower? The Psalmist says: “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man” (Ps. 118:8). There is no other god besides the Everlasting God. You need to change your ways, and let the living God, our Salvation, Strength and Maker to take absolute charge of your life.
Do not allow yourself to be deceived, cheated, and oppressed again. Make God your strong tower. Trusting in human beings “whose breath is in his nostrils.” (Isa. 2:22b) and in princes will give one limited accomplishments. However, when one puts one’s confidence in the Lord, the Lord can work exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can imagine. Make the Lord your strong tower today, and you’ll never regret you did.
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 118:14 “The Lord is my strength and Song and He has become my Salvation”.
PRAYER: Gracious Lord, continue to be my strong tower and confidence in times of trouble. Amen.
