SUNDAY 17th DECEMBER, 2017                                                READ – DAY: Luke 12:35-59; Night: Ezr 3-5

TEXT:     MARK 4: 36-39

HYMN:  EMHB 76 – The King of Love my Shepherd is

I once read a book titled ‘Delivered from the power of darkness’ by Emmanuel Eni. The book is filled with an exposition of the dastardly acts of the people and powers in the world of darkness. The book is a real-life experience of the man in the occultic world. When eventually he had the benefit of receiving Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour, he was able to appreciate the joy and gladness that go with having the light of God in one’s life. In the same vein, peace is appreciated the most when one is delivered from the labyrinth of chaos and confusion. It is comforting to note, however, that there is no situation that the ‘Prince of the peace’ cannot bring peace into, when you call unto Him (Acts 2:21).

The disciples were crossing the sea to ‘the other side’ and, most significantly, Jesus was in the boat with them. The sea was calm before they plunged into it. If there had been any signal or warming that there would be a storm, maybe they would not have travelled by water at all, or at least, they would have settled the issue of calming the sea before their voyage. But here they were in the centre of the turbulent sea and everything changed in the negative.

Chaos is the order of cosmos, even at creation (Gen.1:2a). There is no human preparation for the journey of life that will immune mankind to troubles (Job14:1). But for this cause, the Prince of peace manifests, that He might destroy the works of evil (1John3:8). The big question: Is the Prince of Peace in the vehicle of your life? Or, have you left Him behind in your journey of academics, marriage, ministry, business and other life endeavours?

If you are a child of God and you are sure of carrying Jesus along in your voyage of life, there is no trouble that develops along the way that He cannot take care of (Luke1:37). May the Prince of peace go with you as you go out this week and always. Amen.

MEMORY VERSE: Mark 4:39 “And He arose and rebuked the wind and said unto the sea; peace, be still and it ceased, and there was a great calm.”

PRAYER: Prince of peace, arise and rebuke all the storms raging in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
