Daily Reflection: MIND YOUR INTAKE/SATURDAY 14TH OCTOBER, 2017

SATURDAY 14TH OCTOBER, 2017                                                            READ – DAY: John 1; Night: Hos 10-14

THEME: MIND YOUR INTAKE

TEXT:     1TIMOTHY 4:1-5

HYMN:  EMHB 461 – O for a closer walk with God,

The moment one becomes a child of God, the entire life is guided and directed by the Lord. It was on this ground that Apostle Paul said “I no longer live but Christ lives in me”.  He meant that whatever he was and did was so because he was obeying the Lord’s commands. However, Paul, writing the epistle about AD67, at an old age possibly after the events of Acts 28(which ended abruptly), he started grooming Timothy for a take-over of his (Paul’s) apostleship, May be because he knew the end was near!

Paul was very clear about the spirit of the end-time when false teachers will arise, teaching false doctrines that negate the true teaching of Christ, forbidding people from certain acts. 1Timothy 4:3 says, “They say that it wrong to marry. And they say that there are some foods that people must not eat. But God made these foods…” Such teachers, no doubt, are capable of converting the feeble-minded young people unless they stand firm on the true Word of God.

Brethren, we must be vigilant, especially these days when churches are daily on the increase. There are prayer houses, which claim to be correcting errors of the church, but end up in personal gain and corrupting the faith of the faithful. There are now churches of Satan “and people are flocking there for miracles!  There are ministers who mount on the back of some selected worshippers while ministering ‘the word’. I watched it on the internet some time ago. Oh Lord, have mercy! Beloved, always test the spirit to see its truthfulness. The Lord will certainly show the way.

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 8:8 “But food will not bring us closer to God. Refusing to eat does not make us less pleasing to God, and eating does not make us closer to Him”.

PRAYER: Lord, I stand in Your presence, hold me with Your hand so I will not fall prey into the hands of the evil messengers of the end-time in Jesus’ name. Amen.
