DAILY REFLECTION: Lonely and Rejected | Saturday 20th May

SATURDAY 20TH MAY, 2017 READ – Day: Heb 10 Night: 1 Sam 6-8
THEME: LONELY AND REJECTED
TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 1: 7 – 18
HYMN: EMHB 268 – Light Of the lonely pilgrim’s heart

Paul had many followers in Asia. However, at a particular point in his ministry he was abandoned by all his friends and became lonely. In 2 Timothy 1:15, he wrote, “This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.” Now turn to 2 Timothy 4: 16 – 17, where he elaborated on his predicament: ‘At my first defence no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them.” –
Oh, look at this – ‘But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me; so that the message might be preached fully through me, and all the gentiles might hear. Also, I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion’ .In his loneliness, Paul was able to see the Lord Jesus Christ, and he was strengthened and delivered.
Oh, that you would see Him at your Red Sea. Do you see Him? Can you see Him bringing a great fish to rescue Jonah? Can’t you see Him with Daniel in the lion’s den, shutting its mouth? Can you see Him with the three Hebrew men in the fiery furnace of King Nebuchadnesser? There He is with David when he faced Goliath! Can you see Him in the person of Christ, feeding the 5,000 with five loaves of bread and two fish. That’s Him making the blind to see! the deaf to hear! the dumb to speak, and the lame to walk! Does that not inspire you to have faith in this Great One?

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Timothy 4:17 “But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.”

PRAYER: My Lord and my God, open my spiritual eyes, to see You in every situation and circumstance of my life. Strengthen and deliver me from my enemies in Jesus’ name. Amen.
