SUNDAY 19TH NOVEMBER, 2017 READ – DAY:1 Peter 1; Night: Lam 3-5
THEME: LET THE ANGEL ANNOUNCE YOU
TEXT: LUKE 2: 1 – 15
HYMN: EMHB 129 – When shepherds watched their flocks by night
Everything which the Bible says about Jesus Christ is a mystery. For humanity to understand the mystery of God, angels were used to announce significant events about Him. The incarnation of Jesus was announced by an angel, Gabriel (Luke 1:26 – 35). When Jesus was born in a manger His birth was announced to the shepherds by an angel (Luke 2:10 – 11). Angels are messengers of God who deliver the mysteries of God to man, either by word or symbol of what He has done and hidden from man or something He is about to do (Judges 13:3).
Luke gives a detailed history of the birth of Jesus Christ. The shepherds who were watching their flock did not know about the birth of Jesus Christ and, as matter of fact, they were not expecting it. But God chose them to be the first group of people the angel announced the birth of Christ to. The unexpected appearance of the angel terrified them, but he allayed their fears with the announcement of the good news. From the time Jesus was announced to the shepherds, His fame spread to all nooks and crannies of Palestine.
There is need for believers to understand the acts of God and to manifest them through the spiritual gifts He endows individuals. When you manifest the acts of God it is then that the angel can announce you. Jesus left His glory to manifest the love of God to humanity and this led to His being announced to the world by the angel. You are a child of light. Let your light shine before men such that when messages of salvation, peace, love and healing of God proceed out of your mouth to the souls that are perishing, angels will announce you. I admonish you today to key into the Hall of Fame of Jesus Christ for angels to announce you.
MEMORY VERSE: Luke 2:11 “For unto you is born this day in the City of David, a Saviour which is Christ the Lord.”
