THURSDAY 2ND NOVEMBER, 2017                                                         READ – DAY: John 16; Night: Jer 15-17

TEXT:     NUMBERS 11: 31-32

HYMN:  EMHB 968 – Yes God is good in earth and sky

A man took ill and managed to go to his office on the first day. On the third day the illness did not allow him to be in the office. When he consulted his physician he said “initially I thought I could manage myself to work and in the process I would be relieved but the illness disallowed me.” The physician replied: “It is good that you were ill because by it you know the importance of rest.”

Every action God takes concerning a human being is for his/her good because He knows the end from the beginning. When the Israelites were in the wilderness, journeying to the Promised Land, God provided their daily bread without any effort of theirs. The meat God provided was quail popularly called “Manna from Heaven.” The provision of God was surplus and covered all camps which the people occupied. The Bible says, “The quail was about three feet above the ground.” The people went out to catch quail throughout the day and the night. The supply of God was for the good of the people. God provided the quail to satisfy their hunger.

God is teaching us to see His provision for us on daily basis as that which is better than the past because He is the loving Father who will not give what will harm His people. God provides what is good for us which are far better than what we desire. Jer. 29: 11. Says “for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

MEMORY VERSE: Romans 8: 28 “We know that in everything God works for good with those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.”

PRAYER: Lord, the giver of all good gifts, grant me the grace to know that all Your provisions for my life are for my good in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
