Daily Reflection: IN CHRIST IS REST/SATURDAY 9TH DECEMBER, 2017

SATURDAY 9TH DECEMBER, 2017                                          READ – DAY: Luke 8:1-25; Night: Ezk 47-48

THEME: IN CHRIST IS REST

TEXT:     LAMENTATIONS 3:27-28, MATTHEW 11:28-30

HYMN:  EMHB 199 – Jesus Keep me Near The Cross

There is stress in the world today. Stress is boldly written on the foreheads of many.   What we hear, what we do, the hustle and bustle of the environment go with stress. All we want today is rest.  People have tried to find the best means to define rest that will overcome stress but to no avail. To overcome this stress of life the best and ultimate solution so far is “Rest found in Christ Jesus”.

Matt. 11:28-30 states that we should all come to Christ and He will give us rest.  Beloved, what is the pressure around you today? What is the challenge that has enveloped your heart? What is the fear or yoke over your future? Jesus is calling you to come to Him for a rest.

How does Christ give rest? He carries your burden, not just one of it but ALL your burden and proffer solution by giving you victory over all.  One would think life is bearable to people in high places seemingly without problems. However a professor at the age of 65  said this loud and clear”: I have lived and wasted 65 years of my life but the day I gave my life to Jesus, recently, was the beginning of a gainful life to me and a time of rest.” What a thought-provoking testimony! Christ is calling you to come to Him; commit all your burdens and problems to Him and He shall grant to you rest over all.  He did it to the Professor and many unnamed people and He can still do it again and again in your life.

MEMORY VERSE: Matt. 11:28 “Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”

PRAYER:  Father, I have brought to you all burdens of my life, accept me and give me rest in Jesus’ name.
