SUNDAY 16th APRIL 2017 (EASTER SUNDAY) READ – Day: 2 Thess 1-2; Night: Deut 27-28
THEME: I HAVE SEEN THE LORD
TEXT: JOHN 20:14-23
HYMN: EMHB 216 – Jesus lives! Thy terrors now can, O death, no more appal us;
Here comes the day of Resurrection! Jesus rose from the dead never again to die but to make continuous intercession for us. No one expected Him to rise. Although, certain Jews feared that His disciples might steal His body and then announce to the world that He rose from the grave, they did not expect Him to rise. But He did and the gates of hell could not prevail against it. (Matt. 16:18)
Mary Magdalene was the first to see Him. She was bold to pronounce to others, ‘I have seen the Lord;’ She did not stop at that; she narrated her conversation with Jesus. Can you beat the assurance and conviction she had? You cannot ask her to be silent. She was sure of what they saw and heard.
On this Easter Sunday, we need to be sure of our testimonies. Have we seen the Lord? What was His Word to us? Mary Magdalene could not have had the testimony she had if she had not looked for her Lord. You also need to take the step of Faith if you want to see the Lord. Look for Him, believe Him, surrender to Him, repent of your sins and invite Him to your heart as Lord and Saviour. I can assure you that you will see Him and your testimony will be sure. It happened to me and it can happen to you, too, if you accept the risen Jesus. Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed! And gratefully adore Him, bowing down in joy before Him.
MEMORY VERSE: John 20:18 – Mary Magdalene cometh and telleth the disciples, “I have seen the Lord” and how that He had said those things unto her.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, as You rose from death, let me also rise from unrighteousness to righteousness and go to where You have gone, live and reign with You in heaven. Amen.
