THURSDAY 20TH APRIL, 2017 READ – Day: 1 Tim 5-6; Night: Josh 1-3
TEXT: JAMES 4:6-10
HYMN: EMHB 549 – Lord that I may learn of Thee
We pray for grace almost every time we have the opportunity. In fact, at every meeting of the church we close by sharing the grace as said by Apostle Paul in 2 Cor. 13:14. We all appreciate the importance of grace in our life, calling, and ministry as the case may be. A man that receives God’s grace is a man that is fulfilled. Grace gives us strength and ability to surpass our natural ability. The enormity of what grace does for us cannot be explained enough this morning but the focus today is the simplest way to get this grace without labouring unnecessarily in fasting and prayer. What simple channel did our text today give us? HUMILITY! “……
God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble” (James 4:6). Without asking, God’s Humility it is a controlled response from the throne of Grace, which is activated by everyman’s humility. God will not hold back grace from every one who is humble. Pride brought down the Arch angel Lucifer from God’s throne of grace and for any reason God will resist anyone that goes through that path of pride. Beloved, grace is available for you on a platter of gold; only choose the path of humility and you will enter into God’s grace.
I admonish you to learn this way because our Lord God is always the same yesterday, today and evermore. He cannot change. Only approach him with humility a repentant heart and with faith. FAITH + HUMILITY = GRACE
MEMORY VERSE: Isaiah 57:15 “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose Name is ‘Holy’ I dwell in the high and holy place with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”
PRAYER: I have no power of mine own. Oh Lord, remove every iota of pride in me and give me a humble spirit so that I can receive Your grace now and evermore. Amen.
