FRIDAY 20TH OCTOBER, 2017 READ – DAY: John 6:41-71; Night: 2 King 21-23
THEME: HE CARES FOR YOU
TEXT: MATTHEW 11:28-30
HYMN: EMHB 542 – Jesus, my strength, my hope; on Thee I cast my care.
In the creation account recorded in Genesis, God made all things for the comfort of man before creating man himself. Even when man disobeyed, God still went ahead to provide animal skin for the covering of man’s nakedness. All these reveal God’s special care for man. Beloved, you are special before God. In today’s Bible passage, Jesus reveals that He cares by inviting those that were weary and burdened to come for rest. He promised to assist you in your labour and take away your burden. (Matt. 11:28).
Therefore, carrying your worries, stresses and daily struggles by yourself shows you have not trusted God fully with your life. It takes humility, however, to recognize that God cares. Sometimes, we think that our struggles, caused by our own sin and foolishness, are not God’s concern. But when we turn to God in repentance, He will bear the weight of those struggles. Letting God have your anxieties calls for action, not passivity. Don’t submit to circumstances, but to the Lord who controls circumstances and cares more than anybody does.
Have relatives and friends abandoned you because of delay in child bearing, repeated broken relationship, frequent examination failures, loss of Job, death of spouse, terrible health challenges or for falling into sin? Don’t give up; Jesus cares for you. All you need to do is to cast your burden at His feet in prayers. Do not yield to the devil’s suggestion that committing suicide or taking hard drugs is the way out. Jesus understands everything you are passing through because He had also experienced same while here on earth (Heb. 4:15-16). So, invite Him into your life and situation today and you will discover that He alone cares.
MEMORY VERSE: I Pet. 5:7 “Casting all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.” –
PRAYER: Father, I wholeheartedly present all my requests before You, Turn my obstacles to miracles and my pains to gains in Jesus’ name.
