THEME: HE CAN USE YOU, TOO
TEXT: ISAIAH 45: 1-17
MEMORY VERSE: ISAIAH 45:7 “I form the light and create darkness;
I make peace and create evil. I, the Lord, do all these things.”
In today’s text we read about how the all-wise and all-knowing God promised to use a man who was yet to be born to do His will. It is more surprising when the person is to be from the gentile nation – Medo- Persia. This prediction took place about 150 years before the man, Cyrus, was born and it is even doubtful whether his mother was born at the time of the prediction. Apart from granting this man, Cyrus, free passage to the well-fortified Babylon, God promised to give him “treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places” so that he (Cyrus)” may know that I , the Lord, which call thee by thy name, Am the God of Israel.” God went further in verse 5 that “I am the Lord and there is none else; there is no God beside Me. I girded thee though thou has not known Me” and in verse 7 He says “I form the light and create darkness; I make peace and create evil. I, the Lord do all these things”. The all-knowing and everlasting God even described the type of gates in Babylon, more than 200 years before those gates were made!
Why then are you hiding from Him who knows you inside and outside? Jonah declined to answer God’s call to deliver His message to the people of Nineveh, the Assyrian capital, but God still used him after being shipwrecked and being 72 hours in the belly of fish! Where ever you go, God is there and He sees you. Beloved Brothers and sisters, what is your problem? God knows how to solve it. Just ask Him in a humble manner and consider it done. He can use you as He used Cyrus.
