WEDNESDAY 11TH OCTOBER, 2017 READ – DAY: 1 Tim 5-6; Night: Isaiah 64-66
THEME: HE BECAME HUMAN
TEXT: HEBREWS 2:14-18
HYMN: EMHB 257 – O come, o come, Immanuel
The best helper that is best in handling a problem is the one that has directly or indirectly suffered same. Kanu, the football star, never had a “heart foundation” until he suffered it. He felt the trauma that those who had such ailment felt, and that was the reason he decided to help all them that suffer the aliment.
Jesus left His glorious Kingdom to share in the experience of man. He became a man like us, suffered what we suffer, ate what we eat and wore the clothes we wear, and died. Hebrews says He did all these to carry out the mission of:
- Freeing us who were slaves to sin.
- Destroying the devil who has the power of death.
Jesus became human in order to make us divine children of God. He was rich but He became poor to make us rich. He was sinless but he died for our sins. His mission was accomplished on the cross and has ever since handed over to us to carry on with the mission. How can you lay down your life for another? There is no love greater than this, beloved brother or sister. Share the love with someone today. Become like one to give meaning to him/her today.
MEMORY VERSE: Hebrews 2:18 “And now He can help those who are tempted. He is able to help because he himself suffered and was tempted”.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, you are an epitome of love. Plant Your Spirit in me so that I will always be like You in everything all the days of my life. Amen.
