SUNDAY 12TH NOVEMBER, 2017 READ – DAY: Heb 9; Night: Jer 40-42
THEME: GOD’S GOODNESS
TEXT: PSALM 31: 19 – 24
HYMN: EMHB 50 – The Lord is my Shepherd, I’ll not want.
The goodness of God abounds in all seasons of the year. When God finished the work of creation He looked at all that He had created and said: “it is good” (Gen. 1: 31). The Psalmist (David) in chapter 31 reflected on the goodness of God to those who fear Him. He manifests His goodness in the presence of everyone who is connected with the person who does and follows His will so that they also can join Him to share in His goodness. The goodness of God manifests in security from the intrigues of evil men. He does not allow slanderers to rejoice over His people. He answers their prayers, and bestows mercy on them. The Psalmist admonishes those who scorn the goodness of God to re-examine their lives and turn to God.
Have you ever in retrospect pondered over all the happenings in your life, and of events around you? Have you ever perceived the goodness of God in your family, business, journeys, studies and career? The goodness of God manifests in healing of all manner of diseases and illnesses, deliverance from the power of darkness; divine provision, revelation of hidden treasures of God in dreams, visions, trance and through the still small voice. The full measure of the goodness of God is only for those who are in Christ Jesus; and those who take refuge in Him. David in Psalm 34:8 says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good”
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 31:19 “O how abundant is Thy goodness, which Thou hast laid up for those who fear Thee, and wrought for those who take refuge in Thee.”
PRAYER: Father, satisfy my soul with Your goodness in Jesus’ name. Amen.
