THEME: GOD LISTENS
TEXT: PSALM 142:1-7
MEMORY VERSE: PSALMS 142:1 “I cry out to the Lord with my voice;
with my voice to the Lord I make my supplication”.
In the predicament of the Psalmist, he thinks that nobody cares so he takes his problem to God, who cares and hears. The promises God made to answer our prayers are enough for us to be sure He will certainly do what we ask. Jesus said, “Ask, and it shall be given to you; … For every one that asks receives…” (Mt. 7:7-8). God’s promises never fail.
Of course, there are times when we ask and it appears as if what we ask for is not being processed. Once we lay our petitions before God with the right frame of mind, we should rest our minds, believing that God will certainly do what we asked. Apostle John said, “Now, this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us: And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we asked of Him” (I Jn. 5:14-15). Also read Mark 11:24.
Jesus painted a picture of trust in God for us in Matthew 7:9-11, that if we would not disappoint our children when they ask for necessary things from us, God would never disappoint us, too. The problem we have as human beings is that we are disturbed when what we ask seems delayed for more than we could bear. We need to wait for the right time God has designed when what we ask will bring fulfilment and not chaos or regret.
Abraham waited for the fulfilment of God’s promise, he was never disappointed. David, the Psalmist, encouraged himself while waiting for the fulfilment of the request he made to God. Have you placed some requests before God in prayer? He has already heard you. But wait your answer is just by the door. While waiting, give Him praise and thanks for what you believe Him for.
HYMN: EMHB 359 – OUT OF THE DEPTHS, I CRY TO THEE
PRAYER: Lord, I know You hear my cry to you daily. Grant me the grace to wait with patience and perseverance for the answer. Amen.
