FRIDAY 17TH MARCH, 2017 READ – Day: 1 Cor. 14; Night: Num 3
THEME: TRUSTING GOD
TEXT: PSALM 116:4-11
HYMN: EMHB 521 – I trust Thee, Lord Jesus.
This Psalm, written by David, is one of the greatest Psalms of encouragement for the believer because it focuses on the strength of God for mankind in times of depression, calamity and anxiety. It is imperative to know that God has a plan for your life. This plan covers your personality, talents, needs, and everything. (Ephesians 2:10). God has ordained specific tasks for each individual Christian to perform (Hebrew 12:1f). Every Christian has a journey of faith before him/her – it is heaven bound.
God very much desires that you should have confidence in Him. This can be achieved through the study of His Word. God is always willing and ready to reveal the next step to you but, as usual, you need to ask before you can receive (Psalm 143:8). One thing you can be sure of is that when you put your trust in God, there is assured safety for you.
We often place much trust in those things that will fail us (Ps. 20:1ff). We somehow place confidence in something or someone who can disappoint us anytime. But God will never fail you; His promises are sure. It is futile to trust anything or anyone more than God. Have you not read what He said in Isa. 57:13b that “He that put his trust in Me (God) shall possess the land, and shall inherit My holy mountain”? You can possess your possession when your confidence is in God, not in man, money, influence, power or charm.
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man”
PRAYER: Almighty Father, grant me the wisdom and ability to always place my confidence in You.
