DAILY REFLECTION: FEAR NOT/MONDAY 18TH DECEMBER, 2017

MONDAY 18TH DECEMBER, 2017                                                            READ – DAY: Luke 13; Night: Ezr 6-8

THEME: FEAR NOT

TEXT:     NUMBERS 13:27-28

HYMN:  EMHB 427 – Through all the changing scenes of life

Fear has torment; it is a strong weapon in the hands of the enemies to throw their victims into confusion and panic. The devil uses this weapon a lot. It is the fear of eventualities and other unknowns that make humanity to submit themselves under the yoke of Satan for generations. Thank God for Jesus! Thank God for the Bible. Jesus has come that we may have life and have it more abundantly. There is nothing to fear again; God is with us. Some Bible scholars say there are 355 fear-nots in the Bible (or something related to it). This implies that for nearly every blessed day in the year, God is telling you ‘Fear not.’

Fear not because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). Fear not because Jehovah is the man of war; He will fight our battles and we shall hold our peace. Fear not because he that fears God has nothing else to fear. Proverbs 9:10 says that ‘The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom’ but I think Job says it better (Job 28:28) when he says’ ‘The fear of God that is wisdom’.

Beloved in Christ, I challenge you to fear God and you will then have nothing else to fear (EMHB 427 STANZA 6).With Christ in you, and the whole armour of Christ on you, nothing shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. You can win that battle; you can pass that examination; you can deliver that baby without any difficulty and you can face that congregation without feeling intimidated. The language ‘I CAN’ is not from the new American President but from our God. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippian 4:13). Do not see yourself as a grasshopper before the giants confronting you like the spies of Numbers 13:33. All the giants standing against your life shall fall in Jesus’ name. Amen

MEMORY VERSE: Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not for I Am with thee; be not dismayed; for I AM thy God: I will strengthen thee: yea, I will help thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness.”

PRAYER: Lord, fill my heart with Your fear to the extent that there would be no space to fear anything else, including fear itself. Grant this for I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
