THEME: FAITH FOR MIRACLE (2)
TEXT: LUKE 8:40-50
HYMN: EMHB 238: My faith looks up to Thee.
Faith denotes a strong conviction in God’s omnipotence, which naturally infuses belief that what we hope for, though not seen, is real and already exists in the spirit realm. Outside this context, any lesser level of conviction cannot be fittingly described or qualified as strong faith but rather little or no faith.
However, the faith that easily ignites a miracle is not less than that demonstrated by the woman with the issue of blood because of the following reasons:
• She was not discouraged because of her past experience of spending her resources, exploited by physicians, and her unclean status because of the hemorrhage amidst the people. Our experience should not be allowed to trap us from believing God for solution to our issues of life.
• She took the bold step of touching the fringe of the garment of Jesus. It is the work needed in addition to faith. James 2:17 says: “So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead”. Faith must be accompanied by action.
• She did not deny God the glory. Therefore, she came out to testify before people what God had done in her life. Some have taken God’s goodness and miraculous deeds for granted among the saints of today. Well, it is not hidden.
For many that believe God for some miracle today, they need not be entrapped by the prevailing situation, be inactive or complacent in taking practical steps of faith or deny God the glory. You must give testimony after receiving the miracle. Note also that Jairus almost lost his faith in Jesus Christ’s ability to bring his only daughter back to life when he received the news of his daughter’s death. Jesus Christ had assured him that all was well if only he would believe. He believed and his daughter was restored back to life. Fear and doubt are the enemy of faith that works miracles. Therefore, be strong in faith because without it you cannot please God. (Hebrew 11:6).
MEMORY VERSE: Luke 8:50 “But Jesus on hearing answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.”
PRAYER: O Lord, help my faith in Thee to grow and work miracle in my life in Jesus’ name.
