WEDNESDAY 26TH JULY, 2017 Read – Day: Act 9; Night: 1 Chro 23-24
THEME: EMPOWERED MINISTRY
TEXT: LUKE 4:33-35
HYMN: EMHB. 796- Lord, Thy ransomed Church is waking.
People could not help but pay attention to the message of Jesus Christ because of the signs and wonders which accompanied it. The miracles helped to spread His message far and wide. When Jesus passed on the ministry of reconciliation to His disciples, He also gave them the authority to minister with power through the Holy Spirit.
Apostle Paul was a beneficiary of this authority as he testified in Romans 15:18-20, “for I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has wrought through me to win obedience from the gentiles, by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Holy Spirit, so that from Jerusalem and as far around as Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ” The preaching of the gospel should include the need for repentance, righteousness, judgment and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
All ministers of gospel should, therefore, pray that through their ministry, souls will be saved, converts will be filled with the Holy Spirit, the sick will be healed, evil spirits will be dislodged and disciples will be made of believers. In the words of the Lord Jesus Christ, “ and these signs will accompany those who believe; in My Name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing; it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick and they will recover” (Mark 16: 17-18).
MEMORY VERSE: Mark 6:13 “And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them.”
PRAYER: Lord, empower me with the Holy Spirit for the growth of ministry that You have entrusted to me.
