Daily Reflection: DRIFTING AWAY/MONDAY 11TH DECEMBER, 2017

MONDAY 11TH DECEMBER, 2017                                                             READ – DAY: Luke 9:1-36; Night: Dan 3-4

THEME:  DRIFTING AWAY

TEXT:      LUKE 15:17-20

HYMN:  EMHB 746 – I am Thine o Lord; I have heard Thy voice.

Drifting away is usually a slow, gradual movement from one place or situation to another. In Christian circles, we think of drifting as “slowly, gradually getting torn apart, deciding not to have contact or relationship with someone or group of people”

The study yesterday explained that we cannot do without Jesus, and that we should not drift away from Him because He is the only channel to God (Acts 4:12).

Today’s topic is still talking about drifting away as explained above. You can be ex-communicated by God if you fail to abide by His rules and regulations(Jos. 1:8). He who is a liar, fornicator, adulterer, murderer, robber or is involved in other sinful nature cannot be in harmony with God (Gal. 5:19-21) because God’s eyes are too pure to behold evil (Habb. 1:13). It is important to emphasis here that the only thing that can get you to drift away from your creator is SIN.  Swimming or dwelling in sin can tear you apart from God.

Bring back to your memory the story of the prodigal son who, when he came to himself, said “How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough to eat and to spare, but I perish here with hunger? I will arise and go to my father: and I will say to him; ‘father, I have sinned against heaven and before you and I am no longer worthy to be called your Son’. This young man took a bold step of faith and renewed his sonship. This is the time of renewal: renew your relationship with GOD. RUNNING AWAY from Him cannot settle your issue, it will only make you to lose contact with Him and this can lead to eternal death.  Kindly sing EMHB 746 Stanza One as our song of renewal. “ I am Thine Oh Lord…………..” May the good Lord help you to move closer to Him.

MEMORY VERSE: Luke. 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, ”Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you”.

PRAYER: My Father and my Lord, I return to you today, please renew my spirit, never to drift away from You anymore in Jesus’ name.
