Daily Reflection: DON’T WALK IN YOUR LIGHT/SATURDAY 11TH NOVEMBER, 2017

SATURDAY 11TH NOVEMBER, 2017                                         READ – DAY: Heb 7-8; Night: Jer 37-39

THEME: DON’T WALK IN YOUR LIGHT

TEXT:     ISAIAH 50: 4 – 11

HYMN:  EMHB 378 – Eternal Sun of Righteousness,

God designed the heart of man to always think of something and put him into action. Often the light which man uses to achieve his goal is so dim that God looks at him as a fool. When man walks in the darkness which God ordained, he even arrives at a joyful destination because in that darkness there is the guiding light of God. Abraham tried to walk in his own light when God’s promise of an heir did not materialize quickly enough and at the end he created problems that the world is still battling with today. God had an agenda for liberating Israel out of Egypt, but Moses took it upon himself and killed an Egyptian slave master and spent the next forty years in the wilderness of Midian (Ex. 2: 11 – 15). Peter boldly promised to follow Jesus even to prison and death but he ended up cutting off the ear of an innocent person.

We need to wait and walk in the light of God always. God promised prosperity for everyone, but some walk in their own light and engage in fraudulent activities. Fraudulent persons end up losing everything they have fraudulently obtained in addition to acquiring nervous breakdown and loss of integrity because their lies will not go for ever. To walk in one’s light is to cut corners to achieve success that does not last.

Ruth, became the ancestress of David and of the Saviour Jesus Christ, although she was from a pagan background. When she walked in the light of God, she rose from nothingness into stardom and her name is still being remembered today for good.

MEMORY VERSE:  Isaiah 50: 11 “Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who set brands alight! Walk by the light of your fire, and by the brands which you have kindled! This shall you have from my hand; you shall lie down in torment.”

PRAYER: O God, the Light of the world, let Your light shine on me now and evermore so that I may not stumble in Jesus’ name. Amen.
