SUNDAY 15TH OCTOBER, 2017                                                  READ – DAY: John 2; Night: Amos 1-4

TEXT:     2 CORINTHIANS 1:17-20

HYMN:  EMHB 511 – Begone, unbelief, my Saviour is near.

In the text, Apostle Paul tries to vindicate his action when he promised to visit the Corinthians but failed to do so. He says he is neither carnal nor a man that one cannot depend upon by changing his plans, saying one thing and doing another.  The Circumstances in which he found himself was responsible. The issue was posing a lot of misunderstanding between family members, friends, etc. Questions like: Why are all troubles facing me? Am I the only one in this world? Where have I gone wrong? are asked but it seems that the more the questions, the more confused man becomes. We are in the era when brethren lose confidence in one another because of such problems. Apostle Paul told the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 1:17, “Do you think I made this plan without really thinking? Or maybe you think I make plans as the world does, saying yes and no at the same time”.

As a child of God, you must be consistent, knowing that Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever and that His word is ‘Yes and Amen’. So, because God has not changed, His Word has not changed, too! When we say ‘Yes’, it must not remain ‘Yes’ and not ‘No’

Therefore, never be discouraged by the events that you see all around. And never doubt what God has said He will do. Know that “The yes to all God’s promises is in Christ. And that is why we say “Amen” through Christ to the glory of God”. You still remember the praise song “That is why You are called ‘Jehovah’ Sing it.

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 1:20 “The yes to all God’s promises is in Christ. And that is why we say “Amen” through Christ to the glory of God. ”

PRAYER: Lord, I am weak. By Your power reassure me that You are ever present to do that which You have spoken concerning me, and banish my fears and doubts in Jesus’ name. Amen.
