Daily Reflection: Come, Lord/SUNDAY 3RD DECEMBER 2017

SUNDAY 3RD DECEMBER 2017                                                 READ – DAY: Luke 2:22-52; Night: Ezk 33-34

(Advent Sunday)

THEME:  COME, LORD

TEXT:      REVELATIONS 22:10-21

HYMN:   EMHB 335- Pass me not, O gentle Saviour

Jesus promised to come back again (Rev. 22:7a, & 22:20a). Also, on the day He ascended to Heaven there was a testimony about His second coming to earth.  “And when He had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight.” (Acts 1:9)  And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; (Act 1:10) which also said, “Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11)

All God’s people are in constant expectation of the second coming of Christ. That is why today has been set aside as Advent Sunday throughout the Christian world. ‘Advent’ means ‘coming’ and it is the solemn reminder of the second coming of Christ. This day is also known as the first day of the Christian calendar. So what lesson do we learn from it?

That Christ will come again to judge the world following His first coming about 2,000 years ago to save the world is sure. Therefore, we must be ready to welcome Him and be found in righteous living as we have been exhorted in today’s passage. Should the Lord come today or this very hour, will He be pleased with you? How eagerly are you awaiting His 2nd advent? Beloved Brothers and sisters in Christ, don’t be caught napping for He may come when you least expect. Get prepared.

Happy Advent Sunday.

MEMORY VERSE: Rev 22:20 “He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”

PRAYER: Lord make me ready for Your second coming.
