THEME: ASSURANCE THROUGH IDENTITY
TEXT: EXODUS 3:11-18
MEMORY VERSE: Exodus 3:14 “God said to Moses ‘I AM WHO I AM’.
And He said, ‘Say this to the people of Israel, I AM has sent you.'”
Moses was found of God to be ready for the mission He had prepared for him. However, in the encounter at the Burning Bush, Moses heard all God had said about the cries of the children of Israel that had come up to Him. God is now sending him to Pharaoh. However, those people knew him as a murderer; how could he convince them that God had met with him? Was it possible that the God they knew would want to speak with a murderer? So Moses asked a relevant question about how to tell the elders of Israel that the God of their fathers had met with him. God had given him a very unique name, a name not mentioned before, a very peculiar name that, though it carried a heavy weight, was very uncommon, a name that brings assurance and rest of mind. It is a name that even Satan trembles at whenever he hears it said.
The I AM THAT I AM, the self-existent God, the only living God, the One who cannot be described has met with Moses: this same God will meet with you. Amen. Note that in every place where it is written in the Bible, they are written in capital letters. No more, no less! That name brings assurance of power, authority and peace of mind because, besides Him, there is no other God. He is the only Eternal God. All others are just idols, the works of men. Idols are created by men but no one created God. He is without a beginning and without an end. Another translation says “I AM WHO I AM”. God is who He is without anyone’s help or approval. Hallelujah!
Take this same identity with you in your daily life and no one will be able to stand against you. Be rest assured, the One that is Who He is will always be there for you. Amen and Amen.
HYMN: EMHB 422 – BLESSED ASSURANCE, JESUS IS MINE!
PRAYER: Father, reveal Yourself to me in every situation I find myself. May the authority of Your name override every opposition and all challenges in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
