WEDNESDAY 5TH APRIL, 2017 READ – Day: Phil 1; Night: Deut 1-2
THEME: AS ANGELS, SO WE ARE
TEXT: LUKE 2: 13 – 20; REVELATION 5:9-14
HYMN: EMHB: 29 – All things praise Thee, Lord Most High
The angels are spirit-beings created by God just as human beings were created by God. Both man and angel were meant to praise and worship God. They both are servants and messengers of God on earth. They are not to be worshiped for any reason; rather, they are made to encourage and mobilize others to worship the supreme God.
In Psalm 8:5; the psalmist, David, states that God made man a little lower than angels and has crowned him with glory and honour. Both men and angels will be judged and we are to judge the angels – (1Cor. 6:3).
Neither man nor angels is inferior or superior to the other. Heb. 1: 13-14 states “To which of the angels did God ever say, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet? Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”
Let us not make the mistake of worshiping angels or making images like angels as our object of worship. Instead, we should join the host of heaven to praise, worship and adore God and serve Him with all our hearts. When we faithfully obey and serve God, He gives His angels charge over us to keep us in all our ways.
Brethren, mentioning the name of particular angels in prayer does not guarantee that God will answer our prayers, nor bringing such angels to our aid. Instead, let us trust and obey God and His blessings will be our portion.
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 8:4-5 “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.” (KJV)
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, teach me to know You more and to fellowship in the power of Thy resurrection now and evermore. Amen.
