SUNDAY 13TH AUGUST 2017 READ – DAY: Act 27; Night: Prv 20-21
THEME: ARE YOU ALONE?
TEXT: EXODUS 4:10 – 16
HYMN: EMHB 252: God is with us God is with us.
To be alone means to be in solitary condition or be separated, without companion. It is an act of spending a lot of time alone not willing to speak to anyone. It is an act of loneliness not having like-minded person or people that share one’s vision, belief or dream. It is a state that makes a person to be alone in the midst of multitude.
God hates such a situation right from the beginning and that was why He created all creatures in pairs. God was even not alone in the process of creation. He said “Let us make man in our own image (Gen. 1-26a)”. This means God is not a lone ranger and, of course, will not want His creature to be one’ That is why after He made Adam He confirmed that there was none of his equal among the creatures He had created hence the need for Eve. Loneliness can arise in the life of a man at any stage. Alas! It was not without God’s knowledge. However, the question is: Who was your companion at your hour of loneliness?
Like Moses in our text, he felt his loneliness in the ministry. Even when God assured him that He would be with him, he preferred a man than the Immortal God. He requested for human companion and this annoyed God.
Which situation of life makes you to feel lonely? Is it childlessness, a life partner? Is it employment, shelter or sickness? There is a standby companion who will fill up this gap only if you allow Him to take you to your desirable destiny. He is aware you are lonely. Remember He says He will not leave nor forsake us no matter the situation we find ourselves.'(Isaiah 43:1-2). He is still the same that makes a barren woman to keep house and to be the joyful mother of children! (Ps. 113:9).
Feeling lonely is a very challenging period in the life of man, but remember God will never leave you comfortless if only you acknowledge His Lordship. Make the Holy Spirit your companion and He will lead you through in Jesus Name.
MEMORY VERSE: Gen 2:18; “And the Lord God said, “It is not good that a man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” NIV
PRAYER: O Lord, Our father, be with us in all the vicissitudes of this world in Jesus’ name.
