Daily Reflection: ALWAYS READY TO ANSWER/WEDNESDAY 18TH OCTOBER, 2017

WEDNESDAY 18TH OCTOBER, 2017                                                        READ – DAY: John 5; Night: Micah 1-4

THEME: ALWAYS READY TO ANSWER

TEXT:     1KINGS 3:9-14

HYMN:  EMHB 539 – Lord, teach us how to pray aright

A poor retiree brought his pregnant wife to hospital for child delivery.  The woman was seriously undergoing labour pain but the child was not forth coming.  The Doctors told the husband that they would need to perform surgical operation on the woman and bring out the baby.  When the husband was given a long list of items to be bought for the operation, he almost fainted because he had no money.  He contacted relatives and friends for financial help but could only get a mega amount.  The wife was moved to a small waiting room because the husband could not raise the money for the operation.

While in this small room alone with serious labour pain, the woman started praying and praising God.  About forty minutes later, she delivered a bouncing baby girl without any operation.  Worthy is the Lamb! The Almighty God is always and ever ready to answer the prayers of His children.  In the scriptural passage for today, the young King Solomon asked God in prayer for wisdom to rule and direct God’s people aright.  God answered his prayers, even beyond his request (1 Kings 3:9-14).  This answer to Solomon’s prayer was a confirmation of what God told Jeremiah in Jer. 33:3 “Call upon me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you know not.”

No matter the situation, location and circumstance you may find yourself, God is always ready to answer when you call on Him in prayer.  He answered Jonah even in the fish’s belly and the three Hebrew exiles in the midst of a burning fire.  The same God that miraculously delivered this ‘abandoned’ pregnant woman and also granted the request of Solomon beyond his expectations shall also answer you and give you wonderful testimonies in Jesus’ name.  Our God is unlimited in power!  The only thing that can hinder God from answering your prayer is unrepented sin. (Isaiah 59:1-3, Psalm 66:8).  So ask Jesus to forgive and cleanse you from all your sins, and, by His grace, determine not to go into sinful habits again.  This month, the Lord shall wipe away your tears, and turn your ceaseless fasting and prayers to songs of praises and dancing in Jesus’ name. Don’t give up. It is well!

MEMORY VERSE: Isaiah 65:24 “It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.”

PRAYER: Dearest heavenly Father, help me to always to pray in accordance with Your plan and purpose for my life in Jesus’ name.
