WEDNESDAY 22ND NOVEMBER, 2017                                                  READ – DAY:2 Peter 1; Night: Ezk 7-9

TEXT:    MATTHEW 6: 31- 33

HYMN: EMHB 551 – O Lord, how happy should we be, If we could cast our care on Thee!

A story was told of a cat which did not slack in guarding its owner’s backyard. It often scared away small rats intending to enter into its owner’s kitchen. One day, its owner was surprised when he found it sitting at the base of a tall tree, near the house looking up at a big rat. The cat hissed at it as it wandered into the yard. The big rat was worried at what it would eat if it could not gain access into the house.

The same thought of worry occupies human thought often. We are always worried over what to eat, drink, wear, and what to do. This usually leads to fear of the unknown and makes us anxious all the time. Jesus says, “For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows you need them.” (Matt. 6:32). The import of Jesus’ statement is that God has provided all that we worry about before now. When something concerns us, what is our perspective? It is not what we see but how we see it that reveals our attitude. If we look at life through the lens of our powerful and all-knowing God, we will trust in His provision instead of feeding our thoughts with worry that creates unnecessary fear and sickness. Worry is a burden that God never meant for us to bear. When our perspective is right, we can see God and His faithful provision.

Before the dawn of today, God has made provision for all that we would need because He knows the end from the beginning of everything. Before you enrol in school He has provided knowledge and wisdom. Before you step out He has provided unfailing security. Before you engage in that business He has provided profit and blessing. Before you marry He has provided fruit of the womb with unlimited joy.

What you need to know is that His provision is only for those who believe in the accomplished work of Christ on the cross. Believe in Christ and you will enjoy the provision of God which He has already made available before now.  “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these things will be given to you as well” (Matt. 6:33).

MEMORY VERSE: Phil. 4:19 “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

PRAYER: Lord God, when worry tests my faith, and anxious thoughts assail, let Your Divine provision surface, through Jesus Christ my Saviour. Amen.
