THURSDAY 19TH OCTOBER, 2017 READ – DAY: John 6:1-40; Night: Micah 5-7
THEME: ABLE TO KEEP
TEXT: PSALM 121:1-8
HYMN: EMHB 497 – To the hills I lift mine eyes,
Human beings tend always to focus on a fellow creatures (man) rather than look up to God for help and support especially in times of trials, challenges, troubles and painful disappointment. This attitude of focusing on man had made the dictionary of many people to be filled with the words ‘disappointment and failure’. Probably, you have many disappointment stories to tell, as you turn your focus to God, all your past disappointments shall be turned to divine favour in Jesus’ name.
The writer of Psalm 121, one of the 15 psalms of degrees, (Ps. 120-134) expresses his assurance and hope in God’s protection day and night. He not only made the hills but heaven and earth as well. We should never trust a lesser power than God. Not only is He all-powerful, He also watches over us. Nothing diverts or deters Him. God is a sure Refuge and Strength, a very present help in time of trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Beloved in Christ, have you been moving from one family member to another, from friend to friend, prophet to prophet for financial, spiritual, academic or marital breakthrough without any success? Have you been moving from one hospital to the other, several tests have been carried out on you and you have spent almost all you have on buying drugs, yet the health challenge refused to go? In fact, doctors and nurses have advised you to accept your fate. I have good news for you.
Scripture says what is impossible with man is possible with God, for with God, all things are possible (Mark 10:27). He is the Almighty God that made a way in the Red Sea; blessed aged and barren women like Sarah and Hannah with children; provided money from the mouth of a fish and raised the decomposed body of Lazarus to life. With God, nothing shall be impossible. What you need to do is look unto Him in Faith by inviting His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into your life and situations disturbing your peace and joy. Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith….” (Heb. 12:2). Keep meditating daily on God’s Word and pray without ceasing. And you shall not be disappointed in Jesus’ name. Very soon, you shall testify to the glory of God before the world in Jesus’ name.
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm121:1 “I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence comes my help”
