Daily Reflection: A VESSEL OF HONOUR OR DISHONOUR?/FRIDAY 8TH DECEMBER, 2017

FRIDAY 8TH DECEMBER, 2017                                                                  Read – Day: Luke 7; Night: Ezk 45-46

THEME: A VESSEL OF HONOUR OR DISHONOUR?

TEXT: 1CORINTHIANS 3:9-10, EPHESIANS 1:18; 2TIMOTHY 2:20

HYMN: EMHB 400 – Take my life and let it be

I greet you as you read this reflection. Happy weekend! Apostle Paul’s admonition in our text calls all believers to be careful in doing things of God.  He describes all servants of God as God’s fellow workers and those whom they preach to as God’s field and God’s building.  He says that by the grace of God given him, he has laid a foundation and that other men are building on it.  He finally admonishes us to be careful of what we build on it.

Brothers and sisters, ministers of God, and all in God’s Vineyard, as Paul received grace to lay foundation so also has God given us the grace to do one thing or another.  Therefore, we are all called in the service of God that is, building the church of God. I don’t mean the physical structure; rather, I mean its spiritual growth. John Wesley and Charles Wesley laid the foundation of Methodism and we are building on it today.  An Archbishop once said during a regional convention planning committee meeting “Our Father left over to us this church. We have since been building on it. Is it growing or dwindling? What shall we handover to the coming generation?”

We are all called to serve in different phases of the church; we are all vessels in the hand of our maker; therefore what are you building today on God’s foundation?  An elder in the church was confirmed to be one who distorts and causes confusion in the house of God. Some people contribute unrighteousness to the development of the church. Some people’s actions have always been rebellious. What is your contribution to the growth of the body of Christ?  Remember, Christ went to the temple and sent out all those who were buying and selling there. (Matt. 21:12).  Some people come to church to steal, and fornicate and to confront ministers of God.  What are you contributing to the growth of the Church? Don’t forget, one day judgment will come and you shall be rewarded according to your work. (Rev. 22:12)

MEMORY VERSE: 2Tim. 2:20 “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold, and of silver but also of wood and of earth and some to honour and some to dishonour”

PRAYER: Lord, make me a worthy builder in Your vineyard in Jesus’ name
